February

So I have broken my New Years resolution.
This year I was not going to start any new crafts, I was going to make an effort to finish things that were still incomplete.
But no... I have made this 'Cotton Spool Cabinet' (with a little help from him indoors)
Started out as this pile of wood...

...and ending up like this...not too bad is it!!

Thursday 2nd February 2017
I am in Tauranga for a couple of days for work and this time Malcolm came with me. After work we decided to walk round Mt Maunganui. Can you see that Cruise Ship, 'Radiance of the Seas' in the distance?
Close up view for you..
..well here it is pulling out...
..this is it passing by us, it was so close you almost thought you could reach out and touch it!!!

Below is the Tangaroa Sculpture, this faces the entrance to the harbour to challenge visitors as they enter, to make sure their intentions are friendly, it is also there to bid visitors a safe journey on their way out of the port.

We didn't see him but apparently Oscar lives around here somewhere.
As we walked around the Mount you could hear all this bird chatter happening. When you looked up there were hundreds of Shags in the trees a lot of them had chicks in nests.

Finally made it back around the other side, we are now at Mt Maunganui Beach.

The pool at dusk at the Hotel where we are staying.

SO...once again I am heading back to Tauranga....sigh
This time when going through the Karangahake Gorge, I stopped to explore the old Victoria Battery, it used to be a Gold Processing Site, which started operation in 1896.

Below are photos of the old Cyanide Tank Foundations.
There are a lot of photos, because I thought this was fascinating I had no idea this was even here.

Below is how they originally looked with the large tanks attached.

Sigh....yes if you look at the dates another week has passed and once again where am I....back in Tauranga of course.

So hot today, so after work I went for a walk through Robbins Park.

First up I went through the Hot House at the Gardens, as though it wasn't hot enough already!!!

Phew pretty hot in here, time to head outside

Next up I headed out to Pilot Bay, where I saw this car

View to Pilot Bay

Guess what? There is another Cruise Ship leaving.
Below the Tug getting ready.

This is a Boutique Cruise ship called the 'Seabourn Encore' it has been hailed as the sexiest ship at sea.

Today will be the last day you will see photos like below, unless I travel to the city.
Today I finish my job which I have been at for the past 5 years.
Tomorrow a new chapter starts...
