February already....

Another scorcher of a day, at one point the truck thermometer showed 32degs!!!
Today we saw these really neat clipped trees in Olsen Ave, Mt Roskill.

In the craft department I am working on a Pohutukawa wall hanging I have almost finished the blocks, just satin stitching around the leaves. I thought if I mention it on here it might make me get my act together to finish it...hmmm...anyway this is what it will look like when its finished (I hope), you can't really see the finer detail on this picture, but it has yellow/gold beads stitched on for the stamens with gold threads coming up through the flower itself.

Currently I have made 8 blocks like the following but with different coloured leaves

Here you can see the detail in the flower, 8 different shades of red fabric!

and this is the centre block (hard to get a good picture) you can see I've started the satin stitching.

Once the blocks are all stitched, they need to be all trimmed to size and then I can join them together..to be continued..

This is a montage photo I have done of a wall mural in Sturdee Street in the city.  These 6 separate pictures join together to make one continuous painted mural.

Malcolm went fishing today (nice for some) and came home with about 6 Snapper and 6 Gurnard, do we want to mention he got stuck in the sand dunes.....ah..no. Anyway he got home safely, but it will be a big filleting day tomorrow. Sorry forgot to take photos of the fish.
But in case you don't know what they look like here is a picture of each.

When I got off the train this morning a  man gave me flowers...

...well not just me but anybody that wanted them, they were pretty much throwing them at people to catch. They were promoting a new movie that is coming out soon.

Today is Auckland Anniversary day, and the weather is perfect for the regatta on the harbour.
Unfortunately I am working today, but will be having extra time off at Easter so don't really mind. Below are some shots taken at the Viaduct before I started work.

Today we went to the Cascade Falls in the Waitakeres, haven't been there for years. It was another scorcher of a day, so it was nice and cool in the bush, however the water was freezing at the waterfall so didn't stay in for long. The falls usually cascade for 20 metres unfortunately no rain means not much water!

(unfortunately not much water with the severe lack of rain we  have had)

Hot, hot, hot...today we went for a short wander through the West Lynn Gardens in New Lynn.
They are so dry therefore not much is growing, definitely no water in the river. The only thing doing well was the roses and the climber.  There were lots of Monarchs in the butterfly house, but you couldn't stay in there for too long. (HOT)
